Denzel Washington "Dreams Without Goals" Quote Print
“Dreams without goals are just dreams and ultimately they fuel disappointment.”
Source: Denzel Washington, commencement speech at the University of Pennsylvania, May 2011. The print sets out the passage that follows, on discipline, commitment and consistency, lightly condensed from how he said it.
It's a reminder that wanting something isn't the same as working for it. A dream with no goal attached just sits there and slowly turns into regret. Denzel's answer is unglamorous: commitment gets you started, but consistency is what gets you to the finish.
Who it's for: anyone starting something hard, whether a business, a training plan or a degree. A thoughtful graduation, new-job or new-year gift, and a quiet push for the person who has plenty of plans and keeps waiting to start.
Where it works: a home office, studio, gym or the wall above your desk. Black serif type on warm cream paper, calm enough for any room.
